‘Women in Cyber’ event inspires and empowers attendees

Last month, the Defence College for Military Capability Integration’s (DCMCI), Defence Cyber Academy (DCA) hosted their inaugural 'Women in Cyber' event, which saw a gathering of over 140 attendees from across defence. The event was designed to empower and support women in tech or those aspiring to join it. The day's agenda featured two all-female panels focusing on 'People and Skills' and 'Artificial Intelligence'.



The event boasted an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, all of whom were inspirational women sharing valuable insights from their careers:

  • Brigadier Caroline Woodbridge-Lewin MBE, Commandant of the Defence College of Technical Training
  • Commodore Rachel Singleton MBE RN, Head of the Defence AI Centre
  • Eleanor Fairford, Director of Cyber Defence & Risk at the MOD

Attendees described the event as stimulating, empowering, and a fantastic networking opportunity, laying a strong foundation for their future career progression.
Jaswinder Chehal, Records and Billings Clerk at the Defence Courier Service, shared her thoughts on the day:

"The event offered a valuable platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and discussions on crucial topics concerning women in technology. The speakers were engaging, the panel discussions insightful, and the overall atmosphere was one of encouragement and support."

Throughout the day, the DCA showcased its training offer, complemented by promotional stands from Cyber Confident, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and Immersive Labs.
