The Defence Academy recently welcomed Professor Michael Clarke to address the Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC).

A Fellow of Kings College London, Professor Clarke is a former Director General of the Royal United Services Institute.

The address identified global areas of potential concern, and the implications of these for UK strategy and policy. Professor Clarke also outlined his model of the ‘hologram of war’ and the web of networks that exist across current battlefields.

He further discussed how collective adversaries are learning to harness these networks at a faster pace than western militaries, stressing the importance of multi-polarity and the grave consequences for western nations of failure in Ukraine.

ACSC delivers first-class education to develop the skills needed to address future security and defence challenges, at home and abroad.

The course cultivates officers and individuals for high grade assignments, including command by developing their effective intellect, with associated analytical decision making and communication skills.
