Personnel from across Shrivenham Station gathered to pay their respects at an Act of Remembrance that took place on Friday 10th November.
Held at the station cenotaph, the service was led by Station Padre Robert Church.
The two-minute silence was marked with the firing of a 105mm gun and followed by the laying of a wreath by Chief Executive and Commandant of the Defence Academy, Major General Roe.
Among those paying their respects were serving military personnel from the UK and international armed forces, civil servants, and contractors.
Earlier in the month the Defence Christian Network (DCN) hosted their annual Service of Prayer and Remembrance at Hewetson Hall.
Led by Reverend Simon d’Albertanson, Royal Marines Corps Chaplain, the Royal Navy led service took the theme of ‘A Secure Anchor’.
There were performances from the Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines, the Defence Academy Military Wives Choir, and Monique Mcken, BBC Gospel Singer of the Year 2021.
Among those that attended was Légion d’honneur recipient Cyril ‘Stan’ Ford.
Reflecting on the sinking of his ship, HMS Fratton, Stan said,
Of the 80-man crew, 31 lost their lives in the dawn attack.
