The Defence Academy recently welcomed Lord Sewell of Sanderstead CBE, for an exchange of ideas and subject matter expertise in line with training and education.
International education consultant Lord Sewell is chair of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities. He is also the head of ‘Generating Genius’ - a charity working to ensure that talented students from black and disadvantaged backgrounds are positioned to excel in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers.
Upon speaking to staff from across the academy, Lord Sewell said:
“What I have enjoyed today is the fact that the Defence Academy is at the forefront of using innovative technology for teaching and learning. I was most impressed by the fact that when you come into defence, there is a plethora of ways to develop yourself and your skills.
“I must admit I have a secret motivation for being here, and that is, how do we translate some of this into our life learning strategy? My interest is now in having a conversation to see how we can learn from you.”
Major General Andrew Roe, Chief Executive and Commandant of the Defence Academy said:
“It was fantastic to welcome an educator of such high esteem to the DefAc and the wider team thoroughly enjoyed hosting Lord Sewell of Sanderstead CBE to demonstrate the brilliant work we do here and introduce the fantastic people that deliver it. We’re really looking forward to continuing our relationship and exploring the mutual benefit we can offer one another in the future.”
