The Defence Academy was recently honoured to host its first visiting delegation from Vietnam.

Led by Senior Lieutenant General Khoa, President of the National Defence Academy of Vietnam (NDAV), the visitors enjoyed exchanges of views on training models, teaching methods and experience sharing, as well as discussions focussed on scientific research into defence and security, postgraduate programmes, and professional development.

Reflecting on the visit, the Defence Attaché to Vietnam, Group Captain Tim O’Brien, said:

“General Khoa and the Vietnamese delegation were deeply impressed by all that they saw during their busy two-day visit to the Defence Academy. The event built on the extremely positive engagement between General Khoa and Major General Roe at this year’s South-East Asia Council of Commandants held in Brunei. This very fruitful exchange of ideas explored the challenges and opportunities of developing the next generation of military leadership. The visit reinforced the deepening defence relationship between the United Kingdom and Vietnam, with General Khoa quick to extend an invitation for the commandant to conduct a reciprocal visit to Hanoi soon, to further strengthen ties.”

The inaugural South East Asian Council of Commandants was held from 6-9 March 2023 and jointly organised by the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) and the Defence Academy on the United Kingdom.
