The Defence Academy offers a warm welcome to Commodore Matt Solly, the new Deputy Commandant and Chief Operating Officer for the Defence Academy.

Upon his recent arrival, Cdre Solly said:

“It is a great pleasure to introduce myself as your new Deputy Commandant, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you all for having been so welcoming in my first few weeks.
First and foremost, I’d like to express a collective ‘thank you’ to Air Commodore Hamish Cormack whose exceptional leadership and innovation will leave a long-lasting legacy at the Defence Academy.
Having moved from the Royal Navy’s Personnel and Training Directorate where I worked closely with the other services in the Whole Force domain, I can attest to the high regard with which the Defence Academy continues to be held. It is universally recognised as world class, giving our people, international partners, and colleagues across government and industry the intellectual ‘edge’ needed to thrive in an ever-changing strategic environment. I therefore recognise the importance of my role in supporting the commandant and you in maintaining our outputs while identifying and embracing opportunities for continuous improvement.
For the time being, many thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming weeks.”
