The Defence Academy’s Building Integrity UK (BI UK) team has delivered its second export Building Integrity Senior Leaders (BISL) course in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 24 – 27 July.
Delivered at home and abroad, the BI UK programme offered by the International Group at Defence Academy aims to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in the defence and security sector.
So far this year, the team has delivered the BI UK programme in Bulgaria, Uruguay, and Columbia, with plans to provide more export courses later this year in Uganda, Peru, Lebanon and Tobago/Trinidad.
Most recently, the export course in Uzbekistan comprised 22 senior delegates across the defence and security and anti-corruption sectors and other government officials.
The course focuses on transparency, accountability and integrity measures to reduce corruption in the “Five Areas of Risk” covering:
- political and security sector interface
- public financial management
- procurement and logistics
- human resource management
- complex security environments
Both the BI UK team and the attendees found the course useful, strengthening and establishing new and existing capacity-building relationships with key members of the anti-corruption stakeholder community. The team looks forward to building this community across Central Asia.
