A question-and-answer discussion with Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defence Staff, a display from The Red Arrows and a closing ceremony attended by Lt Gen Jonah Mwangi, Vice-Chief of the Kenyan Defence Forces (VCDF), marked last week’s graduation of the Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) at the Defence Academy.
This year 258 students, including 102 internationals from over 50 countries were represented on the course, which runs over 44 weeks. Many course members go on to fill the most senior appointments in the UK military and NATO.
ACSC is designed to prepare mid ranking military officers and civil servants for senior positions, focusing on the continuous evolution of modern warfare, and developing the intellectual edge required to achieve success in both operations and government leadership roles.
The week opened with the International Course Members Certificate Ceremony, attended by Major General Andrew Roe, Chief Executive and Commandant of the Defence Academy and Guest of Honour Sarah Troughton DStJ, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire.
Later in the week course members had the unique opportunity to engage with Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defence Staff at a question-and-answer presentation. Of this year’s graduating course Admiral Radakin said:
Bringing the week’s activities to a close, graduates and Defence Academy personnel enjoyed a display from The Red Arrows, before Guest of Honour Lt Gen Jonah Mwangi delivered the closing speech. Commenting on this year’s course he said:
ACSC 27 will commence in September.
