Councils of Commandants are a UK Defence Academy initiative to convene a regional forum where senior military leaders and experts collaborate on improving professional defence and security education (PDSE). These councils aim to strengthen international relationships, promote open exchanges of views, and build strong links between PDSE providers worldwide.
Defence Academy’s leadership
The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom is the founder and co-host of the South Asian, South-East Asian, and Middle Eastern iterations of Councils of Commandants.
Co-hosting with the equivalent organisation in the country the council is being held in, the Academy curates agendas of pressing topics, and brings together diverse minds to interrogate and problem-solve. This international cooperation helps to keep the Defence Academy and its partners at the cutting edge of PDSE provision, generating fighting power for the United Kingdom.
