About this course

This new version (launched December 2024) is a comprehensive and interactive on-line learning resource available via the DLE and is open to all Military and civilian personnel. It will enhance your understanding and aid your personal reflection, supporting you to identify how to develop your own mental fitness and resilience.

Mental fitness can be defined as a state of wellbeing that has a positive effect on how we feel, think and act. It's about good management of our mental health and being proactive. In the same way that physical fitness differs from person to person, due to differences in genetics, upbringing, habits and prior experience, so too does mental fitness for the same reasons. What is true for everyone though, is that mental fitness and resilience are not fixed traits. They are not static or finite. Rather they can be, developed and expanded upon. We each have the ability to respond positively, recover and even flourish when faced with adversity – whether everyday trials or big life challenges. We do this by developing our mental fitness and resilience.
