This course is delivered online via Microsoft Teams by Cranfield University and facilitated by the Defence Academy, Shrivenham.
The Financial and Military Capability Management (Advanced) (FMC (A)) course is to inform and prepare leaders and key managers within the financial and military capability environment with the detailed process knowledge and higher-level thinking skills necessary to perform their roles.
By the end of the course, you will have acquired the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the analysis, management, design and implementation of performance improvement across the various activities that underpin financial and military capability management.
What you will learn
The course builds on existing knowledge and experience and uses case studies, individual exercises, group activities and presentations from academics and current FMC practitioners to develop a framework for analysis, design and implementation of performance improvement across the processes, structures and interfaces that underpin FMC management.
You will cover:
- Strategic context: analyse and examine the effect of strategy, policy, national and international issues on FMC and FMC as the contextual setting for defence acquisition
- Planning processes: develop understanding and practical analysis of the strategic force development process through to the management of interfaces and dependencies required to achieve the strategic requirement
- Managing: undertake exercise-based evaluations of topics including operating framework for delegated capability management, performance, and risk management and annual budget cycles

Entry requirements
Who can attend this course
- Military
- MOD civil servants
The course is available to UK Military personnel at OF5/1* and MOD Civil Servants at Grade 6/7 SCS level who will be carrying out FMC leadership roles and responsibilities. Suitably experienced senior SO1/SEOs may also be considered.
Before you attend
There is no requirement to complete any trainings prior to attending this course.
