About this course
Designing Online Learning Course - Developer (DOLC-D) is a key component in the learning pathway for Defence Learning Environment (DLE) role training and is designed to build on the technical system training provided in the Role Functionality Training (RFT) on the DLE. The course is for DLE course designers and those involved in developing online learning instances within the DLE.
During the course, you will develop an in-depth understanding of different educational models and theories and will learn to make intentional, research-based design decisions that will enhance your online learning content. You will learn how to apply these concepts to create and deliver engaging, interactive, and accessible online learning and assessment material that meets the diverse needs of modern learners.

Defence Centre for Training Support (DCTS) priority matrix applicants are to use the priority matrix below to identify where they best fall as a priority for the course. On receipt of application acknowledgement and student justification form from DCTS, all applicants are to list their priority number and return the student justification detailing why they fall within the below priority.

Notes for Unit justification:
- OF3/C2 contact and detail outlining the situation with numbers of posts, filled/gapped and how many of the filled ones are not yet qualified.

- Extracts from the commander's risk assessment or self-assessment report, or other formal staff product which notes the risk (risk register, etc.)
Before you attend
Attendees on the DOLC-D course must have undertaken pre-course training on the DLE and evidenced this on application by providing a screenshot of their DLE profile.
DLE RFT. Up to and including course designer module (previously intermediate level). Although it is not mandatory to complete the latest version of the DLERFT, we strongly encourage learners to review the updated content.
DOLC-D pre-learning. It is imperative that you engage with and understand the pre-learning material, as it will serve as the foundation for the upcoming virtual lessons. Please note that the material will not be re-taught during the live sessions. Instead, we will build upon and apply these concepts in real-time discussions and activities. To ensure you can fully participate and benefit from the course, it is therefore essential that you take the time to review and understand the pre-learning content beforehand.

How you will be assessed
The course will include milestone formative assessments to provide you with an opportunity to practice using the skills and concepts covered in a low-risk collaborative environment. There will also be a summative assessment, in the form of a trainer-marked assessment, which involves creating a course. This is designed to assess the quality of the application of the taught content.
