Nuclear Department

Based at HMS Sultan in Gosport, Hampshire, the Nuclear Department provides education and training for service and civilian personnel working in support of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme (NNPP) and training in radiation protection for all MOD service personnel.

In addition, the Nuclear Department provides research, consultancy and advice to the NNPP across a wide range of disciplines and provides bespoke courses for the UK civil nuclear sector. 

Courses available cover the following disciplines:

  • nuclear reactor engineering
  • radiation protection
  • nuclear safety management
  • safety case development 
  • radiation emergency planning and response
The Nuclear Department offers more than 30 courses ranging in duration from one day to one year. Four of the programmes we offer are validated by Cranfield University postgraduate qualifications. All of the Nuclear Faculty’s courses information can be found within DIN2020DIN07-51 on MODNET which includes all relevant information, criteria etc to apply for our courses. In the meantime, please contact us for further details.
